The Alpaca, whose scientific name is Lama Pacos, is the most numerous of the four south american camelid species. With a population of approximately 4 million in Peru, representing 75% of the world&#8217;s alpacas. Due to the large difference in temperature and extreme altitudes, the alpaca has evolved a special, smooth, hollow fiber. Their wool is not only tremendously soft and light, but also insulates during cold temperatures, and becomes breathable in high heat. This unique combination makes a very comfortable product of high quality.<\/p>\n<p>Containing no lanolin, alpaca fiber is naturally hypoallergenic. Most people who are sensitive to wool find that they can wear alpaca without the itching or irritation.
