Baby Alpaca DK
Made from the finest baby alpaca fibre, Galo Baby Alpaca DK is amazingly soft and luxurious yarn. Due to unique alpaca features this yarn is one of the most valuable in the world.
The origin
Alpacas (lama pacos) have been bred in South America for thousands of years. Known as “The Fibre of the Gods”, Alpaca was used to make clothing for royalty. Nowadays alpaca wool is widely used to produce luxurious yarns for machine and hand knitting. There are two main species of Alpaca: the Huacayo (90% of the Peruvian Alpaca population) and Suri (10% of the Peruvian Alpaca population). The raw material for Galo Baby Alpaca DK yarn comes from the first shearing of young Huacayo Alpacas in the farms of Peruvian Highlands. The manufacturer processes this fibre using state of the art technology along with the conviction that this must be done respecting the environment and taking care of the animals.
